Quick Thoughts

Today in Fun: Video representation of traffic to the NYT Website on the day Michael Jackson died (via Nieman Lab)

this is awesome. for a few reasons. one being that no one seems to care in montana. one of many reasons i’m stoked to have a cabin there…

anyone else think of ‘free willy’ listening to this one?

just what the doctor ordered. if only i could afford to go to a doctor…

Business as Usual
CLIENT: We’d like to go ahead and book you to handle this year’s edition but, of course, we’re in the middle of a tough recession. So we’ll only be able to offer you about 50% of what we paid last year.
ME: I gave you a heavily discounted price last year as an introductory deal. I said at the time it was a one-off and included a quote at the full price to illustrate.
CLIENT: Yeah… Anyway, we’d like you to get to work immediately, since the deadline is
this time next week.
ME: You had a three-month lead last time.
CLIENT: Uh-huh… Moving forward, we want you to treat this as urgent. Oh, and we’ll be paying you when the project comes into profit, of course.
ME: So, you want me to do three months graft in a week, on the promise that when or if you make money out of my work you’ll pay me less than half what my time is worth.
CLIENT: To be honest, we thought you’d be more grateful.

I’ll bet it includes the word “bag”.

had this in my email this morning and only gave it a passing glance. upon closer inspection, this is exactly what i want to say to anyone over 35 and less than 70. but i’d probably be crying… which is odd, because i don’t emote.

How To See Oregon and Parts Thereabouts In 11 Days

My friend Ryan turned his notes from a nearly two-week roadtrip through the Pacific Northwest into this snappy minisite. The pictures from the trip are pretty amazing (fuckyeahsceneryofthewesternunitedstates), especially the stitched up panoramas that open or close the notes from each day.

badass. finally i can reblog something i’ve done. ::prideful grin:: (thanks, liquidchroma, for the solid review. sort of.)

GPOGBNT: Gratuitous Picture of Glenn Beck as a Nazi Thursday.

I do hate to quibble, but taking a look at the website, it looks like Glenn’s supposed to be dressed as a Communist, not a Nazi. In fact, his costume is identified as that of “the book czar,” which makes sense, because you will find in the annals of history no more fervent supporters of Communism than the czars.
Who cares, anyway? Easy mistake to make. Nazis, Communists, czars, Muslims…all the same thing, basically. The genius of Barack Obama, when you break it down, is that he has finally brought together National Socialists, Rockefellers, Marxists, Wahhabists, Romanovs, feminists, Bolsheviks, the Nation of Islam, black separatists, Maoists, Freemasons, New Deal Democrats, Trotskyites, Salafi jihadists, Russian imperialists and German nationalists under one united banner. It’s a damned good thing that people like Glenn Beck have the guts to say something, because he’s about the only thing standing between America and a secular-humanist Nazi Black Power Marxo-Sharia absolutist collectivist Fascist dictatorship.
